Optometrist
JOB DESCRIPTION
• Independent patient examinations within the scope of licensure.
• Timely interpretation of diagnostic tests ordered with appropriate patient notification.
• Co-management of the medical/surgical patient, according to state law and the by-laws of the practice.
• Emergency patient examinations.
• S/P laser and cataract evaluation.
• Participate in rotating call schedule, and be available for back up in complex situations.
• Perform retinoscopy when needed for refractions for wheelchair patients, kids, and anyone unable to sit behind a phoropter.
• Emergency patient examinations, including foreign body removal.
Contact Lens Department Operations and Management
• Provide contact lens examinations and fittings.
• Provide guidelines regarding contact lens instruction, for insertion and removal, to be performed by appointed clinical staff.
Administrative
• Document all patient encounters in the medical record with appropriate co-signature following state law when necessary.
• Bill for services provided following state law.
Education
• Schedule learning opportunities with the medical director.
• Provide a quarterly in-house continuing education for optometric medical personnel.
REQUIREMENTS
• U.S. Doctor of Optometry degree
• Valid Florida Optometric Physician License
• 18 months of experience in the position

Ophthalmic Technician
• Perform advanced technical ophthalmic procedures, measurements, and tests to provide physicians with data and assist in patient care.
• Perform accurate manual refraction a must
• Performs technical workups and patient interviews to include history documentation.
• Maintains patient traffic to exam and procedures rooms to ensure steady flow for physicians.
• Administer drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
• Maintain stock of supplies and medications.
• Perform routine operational maintenance of ocular equipment and surgical instruments.
• Performs other tests and measurements as requested by Ophthalmologist.
• Gives appropriate patient educational handouts and training to patients.
• Maintain schedule updates.
• Provide physicians with assistance as needed.
Qualification:
• Minimum two years of ophthalmic technician experience required
• Willing to work on Saturdays
• Must be a team player with a focus on excellent patient care
