Ptosis (Droopy Eyes)

Ptosis Causes

When someone suffers from drooping eyelids, they may have difficulty seeing. This often results from a condition called Ptosis. Ptosis occurs when one or both of the upper eyelids droop downward. This drooping may hardly be noticeable – or it may be so severe that the eyelids begin to obstruct a person’s vision. Ptosis can be inconvenient and uncomfortable for adults – but the obstructed vision caused by this condition can pose a serious threat to a child’s developing eyesight.

The condition does not usually go away on its own and requires treatment by an eye surgeon to restore the eyelids to their normal position. Also referred to as eyelid surgery, happens when the eyebrow hairline falls lower than normal, making the eyelid seem droopy because of extra skin from the hair that fights down on the lid. The main focus of the brow ptosis repair is to move the hairline back to its original point. Often, hair lifts decrease the quantity of excess skin weighing down on those eyelids.

Droopy Eyelid Treatment

Ophthalmologists are possibly most common with this blepharoplasty cutting through the eyelid crease. If your eyelids look strong or have you noticed the droopy eyelids change the sight, a plastic surgery procedure can change that. Some patients begin to notice their peripheral vision obstructed by baggy eyelids or that their thick eyelids produce a fatigued look. Other patients say their thoughts grow bored and strained when they say or take the car.

High eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, improves creativity and reduces heart stress by removing the extra skin and tissue that weighs down the top lid. Additionally, blepharoplasty makes a more young and rested feeling to those hearts. The effects of blepharoplasty are most present and patients are much happier with their appearance and a better experience.

 Droopy Eyelid Cost

The average cost of the procedure often depends on the type of insurance a patient has unless it’s considered an out of the pocket expense. Please call Medical Eye Associates to schedule your appointment with Dr. Cartwright to find out more.
